Leather Knot Browband
This is a special - thanks to Holly, a browband made of knotted leather that seems to appeal to almost everyone and crucially, will not embarrass her horse. I can’t really tell you what the knot is, I thought it was a Weaver’s Knot but apparently it is a Sailor’s Knot or a Friendship Knot and/or the heraldic sigil of a certain country estate – who knew? You may choose from any of those; all I am certain of is that it has taken me a long time to find a knot that really works as a flat but functional decoration.
Relevant factoids are: Two hand cut leather strips (approximately 6mm x 5mm) made into a flat knot, anchored with thong bindings to either side of the knot and the same detail fastening the 1" +(25mm) loops at either end for the headpiece.
Please email me if you have any queries arising or a better way of describing these, usually I can think of suitable adjectives but these speak for themselves better than I can.
Although it would be fun to make these of different colours and types of leather, as a working piece of harness they need to be a suitable hide, unless otherwise stated these will be made from fully waxed and oiled leather that can be cleaned and treated in the same way as the rest of your harness. Available in either black or dark brown. The binding will be black - nearly completely always (unless I find a coloured thong as resilient as the black).
